Jar of Thanks

Friday, November 4, 2011

Now that Thanksgiving is right around the corner I've been trying to think of ways to that Loren and I could document some of things we're thankful for. But, something low maintenance. And somewhat private, posting things I'm thankful for on Facebook everyday isn't my style. Finally, I settled on using a jar. I found this little baby at Goodwill:

Cute, huh? And only $2.99! Woohoo! I brought it home, cleaned it up, and tried to decided how I wanted to decorate it. I didn't want it to be too jazzy so I dug around in my drawers full of crafty crap and found some stickers and paper.

I know it's not very exciting but I decided to put some stickers on the jar and then add color with the paper filling. I lined the stickers up on the side of the jar to say "Give Thanks" and cut up some construction paper with scalloped scissors.

Yes, I picked construction paper in Thanksgiving colors. I think it'll look pretty as our jar gets full as the month goes on. It already looks nice with just a few days worth of thanks inside.

That's our jar of thanks - Loren and I are each adding a thing we're thankful for everyday until Thanksgiving, then we'll read all the notes of thanks together. And we can write whatever we want from something super meaningful to being thankful for a delicious bacon cheeseburger. I can't wait to read them all! It's going to torture me waiting all month! What about you? Are you doing anything to document your thanks this season? Share your plans in the comments below.
