I followed this recipe from Creative Baking Fun - it was easy, and I loved how the cake looked like a firework (in my mind anyways!). I mixed up my cake mix, dyed the appropriate portions of batter, layered it in the pan, and popped it in the oven.
Here it is post bake.

The part that I knew I would struggle with was drizzling the frosting over the cake. I've never been a very good drizzler. But the recipe said to microwave the frosting first and it worked! I drizzled like a pro!! After I was done getting my red, white, and blue frosting on the cake I sprinkled some star shaped sprinkles on top.
