Summer Wrap-up

Monday, September 5, 2011

Happy Labor Day! I hope everyone is enjoying the day, especially if it's a holiday off of work! A lot of things happened this summer that I never got around to sharing so I thought I'd do a wrap-up now in honor of the unofficial end of summer.

Loren and I started June off by celebrating our five year wedding anniversary. We didn't do anything too crazy because of other commitments but we did go out to a really nice dinner at the Waterfront Seafood Grill. If you're ever in the Seattle area, you should check it out. Super yummy. We ended the night at 88 Keys to enjoy a few drinks and some great music.

We also spent some time in California anxiously awaiting the arrival of our first nephew. It was nice to spend time with my in-laws since we usually don't get to spend much time with family during the year. And, while I wasn't able to be there when the baby was born we did manage to have some fun in the California sunshine.

July was a busy, busy month. Loren and I celebrated the Fourth of July with a midnight 5k run around Seattle Center and watching fireworks at Gas Works Park in Seattle. The fireworks there are just amazing and never disappoint.

I also fulfilled a childhood dream and went to a NKOTBSB concert. Growing up I love New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys so it was a blast to go see them both. Plus a night away with the girls is always a good time!

We also took a little vacation in July. Loren and I took a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a few days. It was so nice to get away for a little bit just the two of us. Lots of sunshine, swimming, and relaxing on the beach.

After the beach, we headed north to Raleigh, North Carolina for my brother's wedding! It was so nice to be able to see my family and get to know our new extended fam. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. It was a great, great time.

August was pretty low-key in comparison to the rest of the summer but we needed some down time. We did go to Seafair, which is an annual event in Seattle. It was my first time going and it was a ton of fun. The Blue Angels air show was definitely my favorite part of the day. Those pilots are amazing.

Summer was really busy for us, so I didn't have lots of time to tackle projects around the house but I'm really ready to enjoy the Fall season and get busy get around the house! So, that's the wrap-up of our summer. Hope everyone had a great season! Happy Labor Day!
