Sister, Sister

Monday, March 14, 2016

We recently had our first visitor since we've moved to Chicago - my sister! She came out to spend a few days with us and we had lots of fun and adventures while she was here.

Our first day together was spent at Shedd Aquarium. We spent a couple hours checking out the dolphins, otters, and other fishies on display.

I'm not a huge aquarium lover but have to admit that it was a pretty cool place. The giant Caribbean Reef display might have been my favorite.

After leaving the aquarium we met up with our cousin for dinner at Jake Melnick's Corner Tap. It's such a great place to meet up for yummy food and drinks. Will suggested it and it's totally our kind of place. Casual, fun, and most importantly - tasty! They have burgers and BBQ dishes and we were all impressed.

Sunday was a busy day. We went to see "The Bean" at Millennium Park and took some obligatory photos.

Explored this used book store in Wicker Park called Myopic Books. They have a no camera policy inside the store but there are SO many books! It's a pretty little shop and some of the aisles are barely wide enough for one person but it's definitely worth checking out if you're a book lover.

Next stop was Headquarters Beercade in the River North area. It's a bar/restaurant with lots of free pinball and arcade games to play. It has a 80's/90's vibe to it but was still really classy inside. The food was yummy but as a non-beer drinker I didn't love the cocktail menu.

We spent Sunday night at Howl at the Moon, a dueling piano bar. It was such a fun time! Going on a Sunday night we didn't know if there'd be much of a crowd but the place was packed! We stayed for hours singing along with the performers.

Monday was a relaxing day of shopping on Michigan Avenue and once Loren got out of work we went to Giordano's for some deep dish pizza followed by a movie.

Tuesday we had some more family come to town and join our adventures so I'll share that another day. Thanks for reading! :)

Love, K
