See-ya Summer!

Friday, September 9, 2016

I've been trying to write this post all week, but I caught a lame end of summer cold so everything seems to be taking me longer than normal. I thought I'd close out the Summer season with a little round-up of all the fun we've been up to. Sometimes it's been so much fun I haven't blogged about it!

Loren and I started Summer out with a bang by going on a Caribbean cruise over Memorial Day weekend.  It was our first cruise and so much fun!

June was busy celebrating Father's Day with my Dad and our ten year anniversary with a trip to Milwaukee.

Loren also ran the Spartan Race which was insane. It definitely was the most difficult obstacle run I've ever seen.

One of my best friends from high school also visited for a weekend in June and we had a blast together.

More girl time in June was spent with my cousin and her daughter at their lake house. It was so fun to spend some time just hanging out and exploring Traverse City with the girls. It was my first time there and I totally understand why people enjoy the area so much.

I also tried out a DIY class at Home Depot. It was part of their do-it-herself series of courses. The course itself is free, you just have to pay for the materials you use. The session I went to we made an outdoor drink bucket. I was so fortunate to have a fun group of gals that included me in their girls night out.

July was the busiest month. It started off super fun when we celebrated the Fourth of July in Traverse City with family. It was such a fun week and definitely one of the highlights of my summer.

It was a musical month. Loren and I went to see Goo Goo Dolls and X Ambassadors. X Ambassadors were AMAZING. I've become a total fan girl since the concert. It was a great performance. The photos aren't great but it's more fun to dance around than take pictures. :)

We took a roadtrip to Milwaukee to catch a Brewers game. It was a fun time, and I'm not a huge baseball fan. BUT their mascot goes down a slide when the Brewers hit a homerun!

August started out slow and then ended up being really busy (hence the lack of blog posts). One of my best friends from college invited me to see Coldplay with her. It was a great show! So cheerful with lots of color and they were great live.

Loren and I went to the Naperville Wine Fest and it downpoured!

They were kind enough to let people return the second day when the weather was better and I officially decided that the beer/cider was better than any of the wines they were serving. Wine in Illinois has yet to impress me. I miss you Woodinville.

That same weekend we ended up going to Six Flags Great America. We'd been planning to go earlier in the summer and it never worked out but it was a fun day of riding coasters. I learned that I'm getting old and standing in line all day to get beat up riding coasters isn't as easy on me as it used to be. Still fun, but I can't be at the park from open to close anymore.

I spent some time working on the house; hanging pictures, painting spaces on the first floor, and buying more furniture. Then our friends from Washington came to visit and we had such a fun weekend with them. We hit up a White Sox game (we made it on the jumbotron!) and went the Chicago Air & Water Show plus just lots of time with friends. Angela and I can spend hours just chatting with each other which is pretty much my favorite thing ever! :)

I spent some more time working on the house and then Loren and I went on a little trip to Montreal. I'm planning to share an entire post about the trip because there's so much to talk about (and a zillion photos). But one of the highlights was our visit to Notre Dame Basilica.

After Loren got back we headed to the Indiana State Sand Dunes. It's only about 70 miles from our house so we went for a quick Labor Day getaway. Ruby was so cute on the beach. She wanted to be brave and end into the water but when the waves approached she would run away.

We got home just in time to host Loren's family for the weekend. They came to town for our nephew's birthday party and stayed at our place. We had fun showing them our new house and around our town.

Thanks for reading our summer update. It was a fun and busy time. September is kicking off to be even busier so here's to an awesome Fall season! :)

Love,
K
